Who we are
Tutor Lane BD (www.tutorlanebd.com) is a trade-licensed tutor matching service from Sherpur, Bangladesh (Trade Licence No. 20263944000583). This policy explains what information we collect, why, who can see it and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Account: name, mobile number (confirmed by an SMS code), district, upazila and password. Your password is stored only in a scrambled (hashed) form — nobody, including us, can read it.
- Tutor profile: photo, gender, date of birth, email, WhatsApp, address, institute, department, study year, exam results, classes, subjects, preferred areas, available days and expected salary.
- Verification documents: student ID card image, NID image and NID number. The NID number is stored encrypted.
- Tutor requests from guardians: name, phone, class, subjects, budget, address and notes.
- Payments: amount, purpose, payment method and transaction ID. Payments are processed by PayStation; we never see or store your bKash/Nagad PIN or card number.
- Wallet history, applications, notifications and SMS sent to you.
- Technical: your IP address (only to stop abuse such as too many login attempts) and two small cookies — one keeps you logged in, one remembers your language.
How we use it
- To match tutors with tuitions, post tuitions and show them to tutors of that area.
- To verify tutors and show their badge.
- To process payments, wallet balance, media fees and referral rewards.
- To send app notifications and SMS alerts you turned on (SMS alerts can be turned off any time from your dashboard).
- To keep the service safe, prevent fraud and improve it.
What is public and what is private
- Public tutor profile (can appear on Google): name, photo, gender, study information, subjects, classes, area, badge and number of completed tuitions.
- Never public: phone number, email, WhatsApp, address, date of birth, NID, ID card images and payment details.
- A guardian's phone number is never shown on a tuition post. It is given only to the tutor who is selected for that tuition.
- ID documents are seen only by our verification staff (admin, and the representative of your district). Every time a document is opened it is recorded.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share only what is needed with:
- Cloudflare — hosting and secure storage of the website, database and files.
- PayStation — to process payments.
- Our SMS provider — to send verification codes and alerts.
- Google — to check the old password of accounts that moved from our previous website (only at their first login), and for advertising as explained below.
- Government authorities, only when the law requires it.
Advertising and cookies
Some pages may show ads from Google AdSense and other advertising partners.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You can turn off personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings (adssettings.google.com), or opt out of other vendors' cookies at www.aboutads.info.
- We never use your private information (phone, documents, messages, payment details) to target ads.
How we protect it
All traffic is encrypted (HTTPS). Passwords are hashed, the NID number is encrypted, ID images are kept in private storage that has no public link, and every staff action is logged. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to protect your information.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is active. Payment and wallet records are kept as long as needed for accounting. If you ask us to delete your account, we remove your profile, photo and documents; records needed for accounting or to settle unpaid fees may be kept.
Your choices
- See and edit your profile any time from your dashboard.
- Turn SMS alerts on or off from your dashboard.
- Ask us to correct or delete your information by calling or emailing us (below).
Children
Tutor accounts are for adults. Students under 18 should use the service through a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 without a guardian.
